Some American friends of ours were having a dinner party and during the evening each guest would pick up the two 10 inch wood sculptures on one table and ask the hostess what they were. She said that she did not want to ruein the surprise for others so wispered to each guest the answer.

Have you received a gift of natural honey in the comb?
DO NOT take the advice of anyone who tells you to heat the comb in the microwave oven to separate the honey from the was, why, because you could clog your sink drain!!!
How?, after you've melted the honey you will have to strain it and then wait for the was to separate from the honey, then you'll have to wash the bowls and you'll use boiling water to get that melted wax out. And where do you pour the boiling water, in your sink and once the was collects together again, it could be in a big blob inside your drain!!!

Desalination The Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia occupies the highest rank among all the states of the world in the
production of potable water from the sea. The General Organization of Sea
Water Desalination was formed to supervise all desalination projects in the
Kingdom.
The volume of production capacity of the desalination stations in
1994 (1414/15 AH) had reached 714,218,000 gallons per day, which enabled the
Kingdom, after covering the needs of the cities and villages on its eastern
and western coasts for potable water, to introduce desalinated sea water
into the heart of the Arabian Peninsula for the first time in its history.
Desalination now forms part of the responsibilities of the Ministry
of Water & Electricity.

It was an Arabian doctor, Avicenna, who was the first to obtain the oil from flowers, known as attar, by distillation. Visitors of Arabian homes would be sprinkled with rose water as a mark of esteem.

Incense is used for all special occasions, on the left Bahour (ba-hour) or sandle wood that is placed on hot charcoal and allowed to smoke. The smoke gives off a beautiful aroma when the bahour is of good quality. On the right is Mamoul (maa-mooul) which is ground bahour mixed with perfumed oils, these are the work of my mother-in-law. |

Teeth: In medieval times, people used a "natural" toothbrush - a root or stick from a tree with a sweet taste - which was chewed to soften it. http://nisus.sfusd.k12.ca.us/schwww/sch618/Islam_New_Main.html The miswak stick is still used in Arabia today, it is a natural whitner and might be used even while walking in the streets or entertaining guests! |
